It’s Wednesday, it’s been 3 days since the convention and I already know that if there is Jus in Bello 3 I am buying my pass in less than a heartbeat. Because it’s amazing. It’s unlike any other convention. It’s one big family of people who already went here last year and keep coming back and love hanging out together, and it doesn’t feel like fans gathering around to meet the celebrities; it’s just people, all with the same common interest, being in one place for 3 days and having an amazing time.

So this is my report. I am not going to write much about panels because I’ve seen a gazillion videos on Superwiki (I love JIBcon staff for not caring whether we take videos).

I'm trying to base my marketing dissertation around consumer behaviour within fandom. Problem is, I'm not sure which way to go about this and whether it's actually doable, and I've realized that taking suggestions from fellow fans is much more helpful than sitting around by myself and googling because many of you are way smarter than me. I'd appreciate if you could take a minute to look through these and see if maybe you can throw a few suggestions. <3
    • Do you think networks should pay more attention to fans than to general audiences who don’t really care which channel they tune in to in the evening? I’m talking not in a way that “hey look at us we’re so loyal and important”, but do you see a way in which they could ultimately make money out of it?
    • Recently there’s been a boom of TV networks trying to tap into social networks and fan communities, setting up Facebooks and twitter accounts for promotional purposes. To what extent do you think it helps to engage fans more with their shows? Or is it all just useless?
    • Did engaging yourself in fandom expand your range of interests in terms of the number of shows you’re watching?
    • General views on what the networks are doing right and wrong: things that encouraged or discouraged you from watching particular shows.
    • I’d also be very interested if anybody knows how the interaction between show producers and network executives goes; how much say do the executives have in terms of the content of shows and what direction they should take? For example, when it’s found out that the audience really dislikes a particular character, whose decision it is to kill them off?
    • Any, any contacts within the production side of TV shows, be it 2nd camera assistant of some third grade show or a PA or whoever you may know that could be useful in providing at least some sort of perspective of what goes on in there.
    • A gif of naked showering Jensen as an attempt to bribe you.

One word: epic. Asylum 5 was epic. Despite some organization fuck-ups, I must say Rogue Events gave me a more pleasant experience than I was expecting. :) I might even volunteer helping for some future events.

I met a whole bunch of awesome people, some of whom I knew from twitter and tumblr, some of them completely new, and I love you all guys and this whole fandom and we are all just AWESOME. I loved all the guests, even those I didn’t expect to because they weren’t exactly my favourite characters. Jake was really really sweet, although I’d still prefer to have Richard at the con, but it’s alright, Imma see him at Jus In Bello 2 if he doesn’t cancel last moment again! *fingers crossed* Aldis and Fred totally won my heart over, Julie was really nice and beautiful as always, and do I need to say anything about Misha or Mark, do I really need to? :)

My friend and I wanna book a room for 3 at Crowne Plaza, which is just 200m away from Hilton. It's £91.25 per night and we're booking 4 nights, Thursday to Monday. Comment if interested.

Did everybody pay for their orders on time?

Because my friend just brought to my attention that somewhere on the website there's a rule that all orders are cancelled if not paid within 7 days. Their website is down atm (how unexpected!), so I cannot verify this, but if that's the case...

I ordered my meet&greet ticket in July and I paid for it in August - so does that mean it's cancelled and I paid for nothing? Well how was I supposed to know that if they aren't responding to emails, I sent them about a billion asking if I can pay later, they haven't responded, so I assumed they don't care! I mean, they aren't sending receipts. So they haven't sorted the money yet at all, and they have no idea who's already paid and who hasn't. Dammit I hate them, I am so stressed out right now, I feel powerless, I have no proof that I gave them money except for a little transaction line in my online banking profile and I just... GGRRRRRRRRRHHHHH!

My annoyance comes not only from a buyer perspective, but from a business student perspective as well. That is no fucking way to deal with customers. Yeh, I realize they don't care, because since they organize the conventions and get the best guests, fans would go no matter how crappy the conditions are. So obviously they can treat fans whatever way they want.

GO TO HELL, ROGUE EVENTS. GO TO HELL AND DIE.

ETA: okay I might have panicked and overracted. I realize what this "7 days" thing means now. Thanks dametokillfor. *Hugs*

...to a brilliant ficwriter, a devoted minion and one of the nicest people I've met in fandom who introduced me to all the awesome British mishawives! :) Happy Birthday, hils! And sorry I couldn't be there for your party, it looks like you guys had a ton of fun. :D

We can have a virtual party instead. Look, Misha brought wine and a ponycake.

I'm flying over to University of Edinburgh in 2 days and I'm close to a panic.

    1) It's a new town. Oh god it took me nearly 2 years to feel remotely comfortable living in Manchester and now I have to go through it all over again. Where's the post office. Where's the grocery store. What are the bus routes. Where are all uni buildings. REMEMBER, REMEMBER, REMEMBER. And keep getting lost and all stressed out.

    2) I don't know anyone there and I am horrible, HORRIBLE at meeting new people. ;____; Every time I meet someone new there's some random talk about music, movies, etc. and I never move past that and let anyone know me personally cuz they are non-fandom and, well, end of story. So I'm probably gonna die of loneliness.

    3) I am also horrible at understanding the Scottish accent so I will probably keep asking to repeat everything people say to me and look like a total dumbass, which will not be helping my awesome friend-making skills.

    4) My boxes will only arrive on the 20th. Which means that for over 10 days of this initial horror I will not even have a blankie to keep me comfy. ;___; I will have to sleep on a naked mattrass fully clothed so I don't freeze to death.

Fuck, Timey, pull yourself together, you're gonna do a Master's degree FFS you're a goddamn adult and it shouldn't feel like a "new kid in class" experience!

I gave in to the popular culture and made myself a tumblr.

    http://timeywimeykid.tumblr.com

Sorta managed to make a layout and now I have no friggin idea what to do next. How do I find you guys over there? Who should I follow for all the good Misha/SPN stuff?

Blah. I hate changes. I am so used to LJ I'd rather stay here but it seems like all the cool kids now have Tumblrs (dammit, how do you even pronounce this shit with 4 consonants in a row?!) and all the fun is over there. Which makes me sad.

UPD: Okay, I am starting to get it. Yay.

The more twitter fails, the more I hate the goddamn football. No srsly, I've never seen so many whales until this stupid championship started. Is it ending anytime soon? I have nothing against it, but I wish all the football fans went to break down some other social network. I just wanna be able to chat with you guys w/o having to hit "Enter" a 1000 times before tweetdeck is generous enough to send my tweet. :(

Photobucket keeps annoying the hell out of me, too. I ONLY use this shit for my moodtheme cuz it's convenient with keeping file names, and I still exceed the bandwidth, wtf. Anyone know good alternative servers for keeping mood themes? Cuz all the ones that don't allow keeping original file names aren't very good for that...

On another matter, I found this Rising Con pretty online and was wondering if it's available somewhere in higher quality?
